- Dunedin Parks & Recreation has created a new program called Adaptive Art for kids eight years and older at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Participants will work on art projects which encourage creativity, social skills and communication, as well as build confidence and self-esteem. Kids will use pencils, crayons, colored pencils, glue, markers and tempura paint to create works of art. The program will be held on Wednesdays between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Two sessions are planned for the fall with the first one between October 5 and October 26 and the second session between November 2 and November 30. Those interested can register their children online or in person. (Dunedin Patch)
- YMCA Health Steps for Older Adults is a free weekly program at the Hale Senior Activity Center. This community-based fall risk screening and education program will address proper footwear, safety at home, good nutrition for bone health and the importance of exercise to prevent falls. The program also includes information on local fitness programs and at-home exercises designed to reduce the risk of falling. The program will take place over two sessions on Mondays between 9:30 a.m. and noon. Session one is from October 3 to October 10. Session two is from December 5 to December 19.
