YOUR cutting boards aren’t as clean as you might think.
A home hack expert shared a video showing the extra step you should take to ensure that all of the gunk and grime is cleaned off your wooden boards.

The expert, known as @tanyahomeinspo on social media, started off her hack by laying two wooden cutting boards down in an aluminum tray.
She then poured boiling hot water on top of the boards, filling up the tray just enough to cover them.
After that, she added a spoonful of dish soap into the tray to disinfect the boards.
Using a fork, she move the boards around and made sure they were completely soaking in the hot soapy water for at least one hour.
In the video, you can see the tint of the water turned a bit darker after the hour, and there are a ton of dirt particles floating around in the tray.
Many viewers loved the hack, with one person saying: “Great video, If you don’t clean it well there’s so much grime and build-up, most people don’t do it.
A second commented: “I have a wooden board I need to do this.”
Many users even commented with their own cleaning tips, sharing that “rubbing mustard powder into the boards also gets rid of the germs,” or to also try using salt and lemon juice to clean the wood.
For after soaking, one user suggested sealing the cutting boards with oil to protect them from damage and discoloration.

And if your cutting boards aren’t wooden but plastic, there’s a way to clean those as well.
Hack guru Armen Adamjan revealed that scrubbing with water and soap won’t get you anywhere.
Taking to social media, he held up his dirty plastic cutting board and said: “If your cutting board looks like this and no matter what you do, the stains just won’t come out, here’s what you should do.”
He proceeded to sprinkle some baking soda on the stain before pouring a little bit of hydrogen peroxide on top.
If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide, you can use vinegar instead.
This combination created instant bubbling as the two chemicals react when combined.
He then added sea salt on top and used half a lemon to scrub the three products into the board.
The acidity, as well as the chemical reaction and the graininess of the salt, melted the stains right off.
After washing it with some water, the plastic board looked almost brand new.
