Full-time masking won’t be necessary in office buildings as of Feb. 28, Quebec’s workplace safety board has ruled.

The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail said Wednesday morning that if workers can maintain two metres distance, they won’t need to wear masks.
The same goes for workers who have physical barriers separating them.
However, office workers will have to don masks when they walk through high-circulation areas like hallways and elevators. Those masks must be provided by the employer, the CNESST said.
Acceptable masks include medical masks meeting the ASTM F2100 or EN 14683 type IIR standards, those approved by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ), or any mask with an N95 or P100 filter, the CNESST said.
Offices will also have to ensure that surfaces are regularly disinfected and that employees wash or disinfect their hands regularly.
