SPRINGFIELD — The state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development has refused to send its workplace safety inspectors to Roderick L. Ireland Courthouse, frustrating the union representing 200 clerical workers assigned to the complex.
The department said the Massachusetts Trial Court and Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance are making sufficient efforts to address suspected health hazards inside the Springfield courthouse, and that the building doesn’t meet the criteria for an intervention.
