Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month takes place in May and the 5th of the month is recognized as World Asthma Day. Asthma affects the lungs and causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), asthma is one of the most common lifelong chronic diseases with 1 in 13 Americans (more than 25 million people) living with the condition.
