Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Dunedin Parks & Recreation has scheduled a Patriotic Luncheon on July 20 at noon in the Hale Senior Activity Center. Sponsored by Grand Villa Senior Living Community, guests will enjoy some trivia and “good ole American food” with friends. Those interested must register in person at the Hale Senior Activity Center by July 15 as space is limited. For more information, call (727) 298-3299. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. The Star Spangled Beach Clean Up is scheduled for July 5 between 9:30 and 11:30 AM on the pet beach at Honeymoon Island State Park. Join Honeymoon Island Rangers and Keep Pinellas Beautiful for a special holiday weekend cleanup session. All attendees will receive reusable gloves, trash bags, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, and pickers to assist with the cleanup. A water refill station will also be available, so bring a reusable bottle! Those interested can register online for free. (Friends of the Island Parks via Facebook | Eventbrite)
  3. In honor of the one-year anniversary of the LGBTQ Caregiver Center, the organization’s creators remind us of the challenges caregivers face on a daily basis. “The pandemic has worsened the challenges that caregivers already face, including social isolation and poor mental health,” said founder Jennifer Henius. “We need our community to step up and support them, but we also need to recognize that our caregiver population is diverse with unique needs.” The LGBTQ Caregiver Center currently serves as an online resource hub, offers cultural competency training, hosts an online LGBTQ caregiver peer support group, and holds webinars with expert speakers to raise awareness about LGBTQ issues and concerns.
