JACKSON CENTER, Ohio – Airstream’s newest product line – Rangeline – just became “Certified Green” by TRA Certification, according to a press release from TRA. Airstream will begin labeling its RVs with TRA’s green label and have earned the Emerald Off-grid level of certification.
“This is a new Airstream touring coach that I’m proud to have join the Class Bs and travel trailers as being green certified,” said Mandy Leazenby of TRA Certification. With regards to resource efficiency, the Rangeline plant recycles or reuses over 50% of manufacturing waste.
The plant uses multiple jig & CNC systems to reduce waste and maximize material usage. Several materials are cut to size by the supplier and several materials are also shipped using reusable shipping containers. Although the Rangeline contains very little wood, what is used is Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified.
In the category of energy efficiency, Airstream’s units include over 90% interior & exterior LED lighting. The Rangeline uses a unique material called “Lizard Skin” for additional insulation, noise reduction and condensation blocking. The furnace and air conditioning are ductless, reducing wasted energy.
The Rangeline also is equipped with solar panels, making off-grid RVing obtainable. These units are also water efficient by containing a low-flow toilet, showerhead, bath and kitchen faucet. All Rangelines are rain-booth tested to ensure a leak-free RV and this water is re-used.
The Rangeline incorporates zero carpeting which makes for easy clean-up and healthier indoor air quality. It also uses low VOC interior sealants, hard flooring, furniture and mattress. Of course, the aluminum ceiling/walls are non-emitting and the units are cleaned with low-VOC products.
