The Town of Shaunavon recently had their Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory, which had been in place since July 18, lifted.
Between 2021 and 2022 a total of 39 hydrants were replaced in the community, at a total budgeted cost of $371,000.
In addition a $9,000 cost over-run for fuel was approved at the September 6 Town Council meeting.
Shaunavon Mayor Kyle Bennett says it was a very important project
“We’re happy that this is all done, and we’re happy we got positive results back, and we’re extremely happy to be able to lift the Water Advisory. It was very inconvenient for a lot of residents and we apologize for that, but at the same time, our drinking water and our water system is very important for public safety and for water quality for the town.”
Bennett added that the town wants to thank all their town staff and the contractors for their hard work, as well as the residents of Shaunavon for their support and understanding.
