The Transportation Department would have to develop a national aviation preparedness plan for communicable disease outbreaks within two years of enactment under a modified version of H.R. 884.
The plan would, at a minimum, provide airports and air carriers with a framework to align their individual emergency response plans as well as enhance the aviation industry’s coordination with the federal government. The plan would also have to include a process to identify appropriate personal protective equipment for frontline employees that would reduce the likelihood of exposure and ways to clean, disinfect, and sanitize aircraft and airports.
