Bhopal: Some 10 lakh city residents, who faced a complete water supply shutdown, will receive regular water supply from Sunday, according to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“Pumps are running from Saturday morning. Flushing is being carried out. Out of nine, testing for six valves has been completed. All valves would be tested before midnight and affected city residents can expect regular water supply from Sunday morning,” said BMC commissioner KVS Chaudary. The new gravity and feeder lines of the Kolar water supply project will start supplying to the citizens of the city from Sunday.
Testing of Kolar gravity line and feeder lines has been successfully completed, a BMC official said. The work of flushing the feeder lines of water supply began on Saturday. Testing was being conducted to replace the 40-year-old Kolar water supply pipelines. Water supply will be started from the new pipelines of Kolar on Sunday. Chaudary on Saturday visited Kolar Project Control Room apart from Chuna Bhatti, Baba Nagar, Swarna Jayanti Park, Kolar Road and took stock of the situation of water supply to various areas of the city.
In the areas like MANIT, P&T intersection, Veer Savarkar Underbridge, Kolar Water Supply Project’s new gravity line, feeder lines and inspected valves, at many places and took stock of the situation of water, tanks and supply. In order to provide sufficient quantity of pure drinking water to the citizens of the city from Kolar water supply project, the work of testing water supply from new pipelines by laying gravity lines and feeder lines in different areas of the city has been successfully completed, according to BMC.
The shutdown began on May 12. Gravity lines and feeder lines have been laid from Kolar plant in different areas of the city to provide sufficient quantity of pure drinking water to the citizens of the city from Kolar water supply project, he said.
Testing work has been completed successfully for water supply from new gravity line of 1650 mm diameter and new feeder lines of 1200, 1100, 1000, 900, 800, 750, 700, 400, 300, 200 mm diameter of Kolar supply project.
