Kochi: Around 500 families in Vaduthala region are reeling under drinking water shortage as the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is yet to restore the drinking water supply which was stopped around three months ago.
The supply restoration works are delayed due to the delay in the interconnection works on KWA pipeline in Pachalam region.
The issue of water shortage is severe in Kalathipparambu Road, Ganapathy Temple Road, Janakiya Colony and Kotheri Road.
Recently the residents of division 31 of the city corporation had staged a protest at the KWA executive engineer’s office demanding a permanent solution for the issue and the officials had promised that the works on the pipeline at Pachalam would be completed soon. But the people are still depending on the limited quantity of water delivered through tanker trucks.
The councillor of the division Henry Austin said that procedures for the interconnection works at Pachalam have already begun and the issue is expected to be resolved within weeks. The works are being carried out using a fund of Rs 16 lakh.
