Enra Specialist Finance has received a new industry accolade for excellence in indoor air quality performance.
The AirScore 365 award has been given to Enra for consistently delivering a high standard of air quality in its Watford headquarters, based in The Hyde Building, which is operated by Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM).
The creator of the global benchmark for indoor air quality (IAQ), AirRated, also recognised Enra for its efforts in continuously monitoring the air quality within its workspace over a 12-month period.
Enra relocated to The Hyde in 2021 to support its continued growth and to meet the firm’s ESG requirement for a healthy and sustainable working environment.
As well as having its own AirScore certification, The Hyde Building is SKA rated, which means it has been environmentally assessed on over 100 measures covering energy, CO2 emissions, waste & water management, materials, pollution, wellbeing and transport, and benchmarked by RICS approved assessors.
Minimising the impact of its activities on the environment is a core part of Enra’s ESG policy and the business has made firm commitments to become more energy efficient, to minimise waste and to reduce its carbon footprint.
To achieve the AirScore award, Enra worked closely alongside LGIM, building manager Bellrock, and property data platform Demand Logic, to carry out IAQ monitoring and implement change to the building’s environment controls to maintain a high-quality environment for its staff.
Research commissioned by AirRated at the end of 2022 found that 81% of employees believe that IAQ monitoring should be mandatory for all office buildings, but only 21% of UK organisations are committed to IAQ monitoring in their buildings.
Stephen Hogg, chief operating officer at Enra Specialist Finance, said: “We are firm believers that businesses have a responsibility to manage their social, economic and environmental impact.
“This outlook helps drive everything we do as a business and we have developed a formal ESG strategy to ensure that we take our responsibilities seriously.
“Relocating to The Hyde was part of Enra’s commitment to becoming more environmentally-friendly and to supporting staff by providing a more comfortable, healthy and productive environment in which to work.
He continued: “We are firm believers in the value of office-working; and a safe, well-managed working environment is a necessity to enable the onsite collaboration, innovation, training and development on which our success as a business is based.
“Modern technologies and creative propositions like AirScore help us to ensure that the environment our colleagues work in every day is supportive of our success, not a distraction from it.
“We’re delighted to have achieved the AirScore award as recognition of our ongoing commitment to providing our people with a great place to work.”
Francesca Brady, CEO of AirRated, added: “The responsibility for delivering and maintaining air quality has been a hot topic of discussion with no defined outcome for a long time, yet we all know it is the people in the building who are affected by air quality.
“In order to deliver a consistently healthy indoor environment, a collaborative approach between landlord, occupier, property manager and suppliers is required.
“This example, of Enra’s achievement at The Hyde, showcases how to execute a positive approach and successful outcome, where responsibility is shared.
“Enra Specialist Finance is now able to validate the health of their workplace and promote the benefits to their people.”
