Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain on Wednesday asked all district Collectors to ensure pure drinking water and toilets in all the schools before the next academic session.
Holding a meeting, he said the Collectors should come up with an action plan to complete the work within a time-frame.
He said that Collectors should ensure one school in all panchayats and at least one school in each ward in urban bodies have these facilities before the academic session starts from June 15.
Under Samagra Shiksha, the work can be done using available funds. Separate toilets should be made for boys and girls. In many places, toilets are pre-built and can be renovated. If there is a need, new toilets must come up.
Special emphasis should be given for running water in toilets, proper arrangement of drainage and regular cleaning of toilets.
