MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin later this month plans to showcase the county’s sustainable housing.
County officials on Wednesday announced a virtual event promoting sustainable development that will include an eight-minute video with tours of 10 homes.
The event will feature short presentations from experts and links to relevant businesses and other useful resources.
The Marin Green Home Tour is scheduled for Oct. 19-20.
The event is expected to include an exchange of ideas for new construction, remodels, retrofits, and low-cost, low-tech and DIY solutions for homeowners and renters.
The tour will highlight energy features, water conservation strategies, and the use of recycled, repurposed, and sustainable building materials.
Organizers described the event as a fun and effective way to inspire neighbors and speed the transition to a more sustainable future.
“Marin’s buildings are responsible for as much as 34 percent of local greenhouse gas emissions, and both homeowners and renters are encouraged to explore opportunities to make their homes more energy-efficient and less reliant on fossil fuels,” county officials said in a statement announcing the virtual event.
“The Marin Green Home Tour shines a light on the proven strategies that residents can adopt for healthier, more comfortable homes, smaller energy bills, and improved indoor air quality.”
