Musgrave NI donates £13,000 of stock to local charities

June 20, 2022 by Staff Reporter

Musgrave NI has helped three local charities by donating £13,000 of sanitising and anti-bacterial materials, to help stop the spread of Covid-19 and help them raise much needed funds.

he business, which owns the convenience retail brands, SuperValu, Centra and Mace, has donated the items to its two charity partners Action Cancer and NI Chest Heart and Stroke, as well as St Vincent de Paul.

A total of 4,390 bottles of anti-bacterial handwash, 2,000 bottles of disinfectant spray, 960 bottles of anti-bacterial hand cream and 450 packets of anti-bacterial wipes have been delivered to the charities to use in their service areas, outlets, retail shops, and to help families across the country.

“Our charity partners Action Cancer and NI Chest Heart and Stroke are extremely active in communities across Northern Ireland, delivering their vital services including breast screenings and health checks, while St Vincent de Paul helps many vulnerable people in need,” said Desi Derby, marketing director, Musgrave NI.

“As our retail brands also operate in the heart of many communities across Northern Ireland, we are delighted to donate this stock to these very deserving charities.”

Steph Ellis, corporate fundraiser for NICHS, said: “Our health promotion team works in community settings including schools, hostels and workplaces delivering health checks and we are in constant need of sanitising products, so this donation is gratefully received.”

Peter Lynch, retail manager for Action Cancer, said: “We are very grateful to Musgrave for the recent donation of stock. The items have started to sell in our shops already and we estimate that they will be able to generate up to £1,800.”

Mary Waide, regional president of St Vincent de Paul North Region, said: “At St Vincent de Paul our members and volunteers have recommenced Home Visitation which is a core part of the Society’s service within local communities throughout Northern Ireland.

“The donation of hand sanitiser from Musgrave NI is most welcome and we have begun the process of distributing them to our 167 conferences for issuing to homes across the region. SVP depends on the generosity of businesses to assist with the charity’s support of the most vulnerable and we are very grateful for this practical donation.”
