Hyderabad: Residents in several areas of Old City were in for a shock on Wednesday when they got visibly polluted water from taps.
The issue was flagged by a citizen, Mohd Ahmed, on Twitter, who uploaded a picture of the polluted water coming from the tap meant for drinking water supply. The tweet stated that such water was coming in Shalibanda, Qazipura and Sutanshahi. He tagged the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) in his tweet.
The Water Board responded to the tweet and replied that a complaint had been registered and the issue had been informed to the Misrigunj section manager, who was the concerned person. The section manager, Abdul Hakeem, too replied, saying that he would check the water supply the next day and take necessary action.
Ahmed said that these localities were getting only polluted water for the past 15 days, and hence were purchasing drinking water.
