You can tell when Gov. Inslee has been getting beat up on his COVID policies, by the way he lectures during his press conferences. As long as I’ve been reporting on news, and since his entry into office, kinda figured him out pretty easily.
INSLEE LIFTS BAN ON NON-ESSENTIAL SURGERY AND OUTDOOR MASK MANDATE BUT INDOOR MANDATE REMAINS
During Wednesday’s press conference Gov. Inslee sounded eerily similar to his failed Safe Start WA plan from 2020. Gov. Inslee said we are going into a “transition period” and ready for the “next phase” of the pandemic, but did not give a day when the indoor mask mandates will go away.
INSLEE SAYS WE WILL NOT BE “STAMPEDED” BY OTHER STATES
He took potshots are other states, political entities, and groups who are pressuring to have the indoor mandate removed. Like always, he stubbornly clings to his agenda.
Inslee said he is lifting the ban on non-essential surgeries February 17, and the outdoor mask mandate (we had one?) goes away on February 18th. The outdoor mandate applied to events over 10K such as the Seahawk games where you saw thousands of people without masks last fall.
However, he says next week he will have a more firm idea of when the indoor mask mandates will go away. He claims the science has allowed the state to move in a different direction.
He said it’s “not a matter of if but a matter of when” about the indoor mandate going away. However, many citizens will likely not believe it until it actually happens.
His attempts to encourage “Washin-tonians” was not entirely met with confidence, based upon the steady stream of comments littering his Facebook live feed.
He then launched into a legislative update, and the vast majority of the few hundred people watching his conference on TVW-Facebook dropped out. People were watching just to see if we were going to remain one of only two states (Nevada is the other) who still have a widespread indoor mask mandate.
