Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Monday said he would make arrangements for supply of the Ganga water to Patna for drinking purpose if a similar project in Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nawada towns succeeded.
Responding to media queries after his weekly ‘Janata ke darbar mein mukhyamantri’ programme, Nitish said it is his wish so that the people of the state capital do not face difficulty in future in procuring safe drinking water from the groundwater sources.
He said an ambitious project to supply the Ganga water in Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nawada was already underway.
“Water from the Ganga will be lifted in the four months during the rainy season for supply to other places through pipes. The lifted water will be stored at three places. After proper processing, the Ganga water will be supplied for drinking purpose in the four towns,” Nitish said.
“If the Ganga water supply project becomes successful, I will make a similar arrangement for Patna,” the CM said.
Responding to another query, Nitish again dismissed speculations that he was willing to join national politics.
“It’s all nonsense. We (NDA allies) are working together in the state,“ Nitish said, dismissing speculations that he was touring different parts of his old parliamentary constituencies of erstwhile Barh and Nalanda as part of his thanksgiving programme before shifting to national politics.
“Everyone knows, I have been visiting my old parliamentary constituencies on a personal tour. I am going to thank those people who had helped me in the initial days of my political career. I have been craving for a long time to meet all those people, who made me a Lok Sabha member in my initial days of politics. I have been serving the people of Bihar for the last 16 years,” Nitish said, explaining the reason behind his recent frequent visits to different parts of Barh and Nalanda areas.
Earlier, the CM heard the grievances of altogether 132 people, who turned up at his ‘janata darbar’ programme.
