The price of sachet water commonly referred to as ‘pure water’ is to sell at GH¢0.40p per a sachet effective April 1, 2022.
The product was selling at GH¢0.30p per a sachet.
The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has attributed the rise in price of the product to the increasing cost of raw materials, fuel and the depreciation of the cedi.
A bag of sachet water will now be distributed at a maximum price of GH¢6 from the trucks whilst retailers will sell the product at GH¢8.
Meanwhile, 500ml and 750ml sized bottled water will be sold at GH¢2 and GH¢2.50 respectively.
Background
Around November 2021, the product (pure water) saw a 10p increment from GH¢0.20p to GH¢0.30p.
The National Director of Corporate Affairs of NASPAWAP, Mr Kwame Agyapon Ntra, explained the increment was due to the rising cost of production and distribution.
