Samsung’s SmartThings is one of the world’s biggest smart home ecosystems. It is compatible with various devices, including TVs, soundbars, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, ACs, refrigerators, washing machines, lights, and sensors. To showcase what’s possible in the SmartThings ecosystem, Samsung is setting up showcase areas at major retail stores in South Korea.
With multi-device setups at these retail stores, Samsung is letting users experience what they can do with the SmartThings ecosystem. Such setups include smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, and home appliances. Such experience zones have been set up at 15 Samsung Digital Plaza stores and 80 other partner stores across South Korea.
The company explained in its press release that it created six themes—home entertainment, home studio, home fitness, home cooking, game room, and pet care—to showcase ideal SmartThings-powered smart home scenarios.
Samsung also showcased the Routines feature these experience zones. For example, when the Party Mode is started, the electric curtains close, music plays from the soundbar, and The Freestyle projector displays disco lighting on the wall. Similarly, when the study routine is started, the AC and the air purifier switch to silent mode, the smart light is turned on, and the Galaxy Tab can be used for taking notes or drawing.
The South Korean firm is also organizing a #YouMake zone where consumers can visit and design their own customizations and experiences. Such experience zones are set up at five locations: Daechi, Hongdae, Daejeon, Bucheon Jungdong, and Haeundae.
