Long-standing issues of water leaks and water outages in ward 30, have angered the community. The communities of Raisethorpe, Allandale and Orient Heights have accused Msunduzi Municipality’s water department of dragging its feet in addressing the problems there.

According to the residents, kilolitres of clean drinking water gush out of burst pipes over long periods unattended, due to ongoing water leaks.

Local ward councillor Rachel Soobiah said there are references to water leaks which were reported last November and have still not been addressed. She said she has been getting complaints regularly from residents about water leaks.
